Use marketing strategies to create personalized content

Drawing from the world of online marketing, we can find useful tactics to apply to learning design. Personalization makes learners feel heard, seen, and more engaged. Find ways within even an automated program to segment your audience and send more personalized content their way. Include their name and any data that you can collect through your technology platform to let them feel heard.

Become familiar with your target client

Your learners have distinct needs. You need to find out what those needs are. Do this by talking to your audience. Meet them where they are and do research. You can interview, survey, conduct focus groups or observe people in action through one-to-one or service based client interactions. This information will serve you as you create more scalable digital courses and online experiences.

Strategies to make courses more finishable

A course is often only effective when a participant completes the thing. This is where the online course industry is struggling. Completion rates are super low, below 15% on average. This means courses aren't effective enough. They're not engaging, not retaining and could benefit from an update.
